Thank you for your interest in becoming an interpreter for Tenon Tours’ Ireland tour for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. Below you will find information regarding the position, incentives for promoting the tour and an application.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Please note: There  may be both hearing and deaf travelers. You may be responsible for hosting the tour as well as interpreting when needed.  Exact responsibilities and amount of interpreters/hosts will be determined upon final group size.

  • Objective: To give our travelers a great “Irish Welcome” on the day/night of arrival. This would start at the airport and directing travelers to their hotel transfer.  That evening you will provide a brief “Introduction to Ireland” while reviewing documents, the weekly schedule and answering questions travelers may have about the trip.  You will arrange a welcome drink and afterwards a short walking tour around the immediate area (Temple Bar) to acclimate the passengers to the area.
  • Host various Welcome/Farewell gatherings at different locations including a complimentary drink.
  • Sell Optional Tours on-site
  • Be available for all travelers throughout the tour for various questions and assistance (check-ins, transfers, tours, etc) as well as making sure everyone is where they are supposed to be at various meeting times. – Please note, we will instruct them that you are NOT a guide. There will also be a private driver from town to town who will also able to assist you.

Requirements:

  • Certified Interpreter
  • Travel Experience
  • Outgoing
  • Customer Service Oriented
  • Group Leadership skills
  • Organized
  • Computer/Printer access prior to travel – all helpful documents will be emailed to you.

Helpful, but not required

  • Ireland Travel Experience
  • Personal Laptop to travel with
  • Mobile phone with world access

Compensation:

  • Round-Trip flight from a local International Airport (we may keep discretion of airports within a 2 hour radius from your home)
  • US Departure Friday, June 8th, Arrival In Dublin Saturday, June 9th (Clients arrive June 10th), Departure based on amount of clients traveling between 7 and 10-night tour option
  • Hotel Accommodation (single room, or you may bring a travel partner- see Additional traveler section below)
  • Full Irish Breakfast every morning
  • Airport Transfers
  • Transportation from town to town w/group
  • Daily Touring costs covered for those tours requiring an interpreter
  • Pay Rate: TBD upon final group size & required travel dates (includes allowance for additional food not included in tour)
  • Additional Expenses Covered: Taxis (when needed), Group Drinks, misc items

Additional Travelers: If hired as an interpreter you will be provided with discount rates if any friends/family would like to travel/room with you.  This will be determined as you are hired and final group size is determined.

Group Organizer Position: As a group organizer you will have significantly higher chances at being hired with your travel expenses covered.  As a group organizer you will also earn commission for each traveler you have signed up.  This commission will be paid whether you choose to travel or not (though we hope you do!).  Please contact Katie Fleming at kfleming@tenontours.com for more information regarding this position.
