Introduce your students to the wonders of travel

graduation studentsHelp your students stand out! College admissions professionals agree that students with international experience garner more attention than those with similar academic credentials. Your students will return from their travels, self-confident, mature and globally aware. You’ll return reinvigorated and just as inspired as the kids.

Plan a tour and travel with your students, sports team, club, church group, fellow faculty members and/or members of your community.

Bring history, art and language to life! Design a tour around your academic focus or the common interests of your group.

Below are just a few ideas sorted by academic interest, but the possibilities are endless…

  • English / Literature : Travel to the UK and Ireland. From Shakespeare to Burns to Yeats and Keats there is plenty to discover in this part of the world. While you’re there, why not catch a show in London’s West End?
  • History : There is history everywhere you turn in Europe, but if you only have 10 days to travel, you might want to narrow your focus. For example, take your students to Normandy to see where some of the most infamous battles of World War II took place.Visit the American cemetery in Coleville-sur Mer and pay homage to our brave soldiers.  If you have more time, add in London and Berlin.
  • Art : Journey to London, Paris and Amsterdam. Visit the many museums and galleries in London, learn more about impressionism and Monet and Renoir in Paris, and tour the fascinating Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam to view masterpieces by Rembrandt and Vermeer. The VanGogh museum is not to be missed on any visit to this beautiful city.
  • Science : Learn about renewable energy and conservation efforts  in Germany. Visit the Eden Project Biosphere and Darwin’s birthplace in London or simply be stunned at the geological diversity of Ireland.
  • Language : There is no better way to learn a language than to practice it with the locals! Team up with other language teachers and design a multi-country tour…France and Spain perhaps?
  • Religion: Make a pilgrimage to Rome and Vatican City. Explore Jewish Heritage in the Eastern Europe with visits to Budapest, Prague and Krakow. Learn more about the Pilgrims and their determination to enjoy religious freedoms on a tour of England and the Netherlands.

Irish Life Experience

ILE

American and Canadian students are invited to immerse themselves in this unique 25-day cultural and academic program. Students will experience an assortment of classes, workshops, and tours in Waterford, Dublin and Galway. Emphasizing culture, education, travel, and fun, the Irish Life Experience strives to ensure each student’s experience is unique and unforgettable.

Applications are being accepted now for our 2010 program which will take place from June 28 through July 22. Applications are accepted until the program is full, but students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as spots are going quick.

Here is what one mother has to say about the program:

“Irish Life Experience has been one of the greatest highlights in the lives of both my two oldest daughters. Both have returned full of wonder about Irish history, geography, culture and lifestyle. They have formed deep and lasting bonds with both the staff and students with whom they shared these experiences. They have returned more mature, wiser, and more self assured; and they are more confident to take on the role of world citizens and travelers. We are already planning for my third daughter to attend in 2012! “
