How it started
When Tenon Travelers Jessica and Christian started planning their honeymoon, they decided to start looking into destinations in Europe. They had never been there before, so getting started in the travel planning process proved to be tricky. Many newlyweds understand the stress of planning a wedding, so trying to simultaneously plan a honeymoon can be an added challenge!
“I loved how Stephanie responded to our requests and adapted our travel plan to what we wanted to do within the price range we had asked for. Tenon Tours was also able to move around our itinerary so that we still could go to Glasgow since COP26 was happening around that time. She also gave us a detailed plan ahead of time so I could research the accommodations and activities and provide specific feedback before we went on the trip.”
When planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip like your honeymoon, it’s important to feel like you are getting exactly what you want. This is ultimately why Jessica and Christian decided to book with Tenon Tours, even after speaking with several different travel companies:
“I really felt like Stephanie and Gracie really were invested in making our trip a success. Even though I am sure they are working on multiple tours, they made me feel like we were their first priority.”
With the Tenon Tours mobile app, you’ll have an extra layer of security knowing that everything you need for your trip is available at your fingertips – including our service team, which is available to you 24/7. Jessica said this was an added bonus that she really loved.
Honeymoon Part 1: Scotland
Newlyweds Jessica and Christian started their 12-day honeymoon in the historic country of Scotland. After spending their first few days exploring Glasglow (although they both wanted to stay longer!), they departed for the capital city of Edinburgh on October 31, 2021.
“We arrived [in Edinburgh] on Halloween, so it was really fitting to spend that night and the next few days exploring such a superstitious and “haunted” city. We also really enjoyed all the Harry Potter-themed tours, storefronts, and offerings!”
It’s no secret that Scotland is known the world over for its whisky. Jessica and Christian wanted to experience this while in Edinburgh, so our team arranged a guided tour and tasting for the two of them. As it turns out, it was a highlight of their trip:
“We absolutely loved the Scotch Whiskey Experience. As a whiskey aficionado myself, I really enjoyed learning about how whiskey was made and all of the different regions of Scotch production.”
Honeymoon Part 2: Ireland
Jessica and Christian then departed for Galway, located in southern Ireland. One of the best ways to get a feel for the local culture is by trying their cuisine, so the newlyweds opted in for a walking food tour.
“We loved the Galway Food Tour. We had a lot of questions about the food in Ireland (and Scotland), so I think if we could do it again (when COVID-19 is not a factor) we would love to do more food tours.”
Taking the train from Galway to Dublin, they enjoyed a few days in the city where they explored the world-famous Guinness Storehouse and Jameson Distillery Whiskey Maker’s Experience.
Where to next?
While the two of them settle into married life back in the states, they haven’t started planning their next adventure just yet. But they know that they would love to go back to Scotland someday and even extend their travels into England or Northern Ireland.
Congratulations to Jessica and Christian on a full life full of happiness and future adventures together!
