As we set our sights on the future of travel in the coming years, we decided to send a survey to our database to hear their feedback. We asked them to take a few minutes to share their personal thoughts (anonymously) on international travel within the next couple of years. Below are the results we received and how we plan on using this information moving forward.
Have you traveled internationally in the last three years?
68.8% – Yes
31.2% – No
We started by asking a simple yes/no question: have you traveled internationally within the last three years? This would help us determine how often people are traveling internationally in order to predict future travel opportunities. Not surprisingly, nearly 70% of respondents confirmed that they have traveled outside of the United States since 2017.
If No: Why did you decide to not travel?
41.8% – COVID-19
26.2% – Finances
15.4% – Health or Family Circumstances
5.1% – Political or Economic Uncertainty
11.5% – Other
2020 presented an obstacle to the travel industry unlike any other. When we asked those who answered ānoā to the previous question, we assumed many answers would focus on the pandemic. We were correct – over 40% of respondents said that they did not travel internationally within the last three years due to COVID-19. Other responses ranged from finances, health/family circumstances, political and economic uncertainty, etc.
If Yes: Did you travel within Europe?
76.8% – Yes
23.2% – No
As a travel company, we strive to provide our travelers with opportunities to visit the countries they want to visit the most. Because Europe is our passion and sole focus, we werenāt surprised at the number of respondents who traveled there. However, we do travel to other countries outside of our ānormalā destinations as well. Request a quote from our team to see what we can do for you.
Do you plan on traveling internationally within the next three years?
22% – Yes, in 2021
54.8% – Yes, in 2022
17% – Yes, in 2023
6.2% – No
This question yielded the most positive results by far. We were extremely pleased to see that the majority of respondents are planning to travel internationally within the next three years. Over half said they are planning to travel in 2022 which is a trend we have seen an increase in the last few months. If you are looking to travel to Europe, we recommend starting the process sooner rather than later. Many travelers have had to rebook their 2020 and 2021 trips, and we are already seeing 2022 fill up quickly.
