The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Scotland
Whether you’re interested in the military, Scottish history or just looking for a fantastic cultural event to visit, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is perfect for you.
Every August for approximately three weeks the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle hosts a seried of Military tattoos performed by British Armed Forces, Commonwealth and International military bands and display teams.
The first official tattoo began in 1950, however it did not receive it’s official “Royal” title until 2010 when Queen Elizabeth awarded the title to celebrate the 60th anniversary.
Be warned though! The Tattoo averages over 220,000 visitors each year and has sold out every year for the past decade. Edinburgh becomes extremely popular and extremely expensive. While an amazing experience, it is best to keep note if this may be the best time for you to visit or not.
