Part of what makes Tenon so great is our one-on-one mentality and desire to get to know our clients. We thought it was about time to return the favor and let you get to know us! Gabriela, our Product Manager, has been with us since 2020. Below she answered some questions about herself and her journey in the travel business!
Where have you traveled to so far?
I’ve traveled to Mexico, Canada, Peru, throughout the British Isles and Europe.
If you had to choose one place that has been your favorite to visit, what would it be?
I absolutely fell in love with Switzerland and hope to go back and see lots more of it. They have one of the greatest transportation networks in the world. You can get to any corner of the country by rail, road or boat and the journey is just as scenic (if not more!) than the destination. Plus, it’s hard not to love a country that produces some of the best chocolate and cheese in the world.
What is your least favorite part of traveling?
How long it takes to get to certain parts of the world. The excitement of getting to a destination can make it feel even longer sometimes. I really wish Elon Musk would invent the teleportation machine already!
If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Anywhere I haven’t been to yet! I really enjoy exploring new places and learning about their history and local culture.
Why should someone consider booking their vacation with Tenon Tours?
Granted, I’m one of the newest members of the company, but in the short time I’ve been with Tenon, I’ve marveled at the high level of dedication and customer service we strive to offer our clients. There is a real sense of teamwork and a true love for what we do, and I think it shows in the final product!
Who is the ideal Tenon Tours client and why should they travel with us?
I think the ideal Tenon Tours client is anyone who prefers a higher level of customer service and dedicated assistance, but also wants to experience a deeper human, social and global connection when they travel.
What inspired you to become a Product Manager?
I became a Product Manager because I really enjoy developing new packages and collaborating with local vendors on creating unique experiences for our clients. I love the process of seeing new vacation packages come together, from inception to implementation, and sharing the final product with the rest of the Tenon Tours team as well as our clients. It’s an especially great feeling when our clients come back raving about a specific hotel they stayed at, or an experience they had.
Of all the unique foods you have had a chance to try in our destinations, which has been your favorite?
Haggis in Scotland, hands-down. I try not to focus on what it’s actually made of because I usually don’t like eating some of the known ingredients, but something about the spices makes it yummy to me! I remember the first Scottish trip I was brave enough to try it, I liked it so much I ate it for breakfast, lunch and dinner wherever it was served.
What would be your #1 travel tip for a client who has never traveled abroad before?
If you have free time, visit a local market or grocery store and buy a few key items to have a picnic somewhere where you can people watch. It’s cheap and fun. And it will give you a great insight into how people live in other places.
How does your education connect to your career? What about personal experiences?
I moved to Mexico when I was 4 years old and grew up in a very touristy/beach town, and I feel that gave me a whole new perspective on how to be a good tourist and the kinds of things I wanted to portray as a representative and “ambassador“ of my country when I visit other countries. I always try to keep that in mind when I travel for personal and business reasons, as well as when I’m designing and developing new vacation packages.
