Diana and her two daughters just got back from a girls vacation to Scotland! Read about their adventures below:

What made you want to travel to Scotland?:
“History and we were looking for James Fraser!”

Where were the top places to visit on your wish list?:
“Edinburgh Castle, Balmoral, Dunotar, Eilean Donan, Stirling, St.Andrew’s, Doune, Falkland Palace, Urquhart, Armadale,Dalhousie! So , castles , the Isle of Skye , and Culluden field. All in 8 days!”

Tough question alert! What was the best part about your vacation?:
“Sharing it with my girls”

What made you want to travel with Tenon Tours?:
“They just took care of all the bookings which since I had never been on a drive tour before helped immensely. I felt safe that if anything were to go wrong they would be there to help me. Luckily, or because of their good planning, everything was great!”

How was your experience with your Personal Sales Representative(s)?:
“Terrific. They always responded in a timely fashion and answered any questions that I had.”

Do you have any advice to offer up about the weather?:
“Believe it or not every day was clear. We had scant showers until the very last day. We were able to walk to the pubs from all of our bed and breakfast, which was really great because after driving on the left side, I really needed a drink and obviously wouldn’t be able to drink and drive.”

Did travel insurance come in handy for you?:
“I purchased it and luckily did not need it. I had also purchased flight insurance which I did not need or medical insurance. But I was glad I had it.”

What are your favorite souvenirs you brought home?:
“Talisker whiskey!”

How did you feel about driving on the “wrong” side of the road?:
“It was very tense for everyone in the car”

What tips do you have for others planning a self-drive tour?:
“Don’t do it unless you think you will be very comfortable.”

How did you go about planning your itinerary, picking sights, arranging them and figuring out how long to stay?:
“Well, it took a year and we picked all the sites that we wanted to see and did all the times between each stop and it worked out perfectly. It looked like we might drive 3 hours a day but in reality it was probably 4 at 30 mph! And two or three hours for each site we visited. So breakfast at 8:30, left by nine, arrived at our next bed-and-breakfast about six.”

Any advice for getting around? Using maps, GPS, following road signs, etc..:
“Download Maps into your phone before you go. You want to always have GPS service on your phone. Also get a travel pass on your phone which from Verizon is $10 a day”

Thank you ladies! We hope to assist you again in the future šŸ™‚
