Michael and his wife Ann-Marie just returned from celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary in Italy!

Read about their vacation experience below.

What made you want to travel to Italy?:
“This year we are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and wanted to take a trip overseas for that. Michael’s great grandparents are from Italy, so we decided that we wanted to visit the homeland!”

Where were the top 3 places to visit on your wish list? If you made it to them, what did you think?:
“Our base was Rome and Florence and we had opportunities to visit Sienna and Cinque Terre. What impressed us the most was the beauty of the architecture and art of the places we visited, whether it was a small church tucked away in a hidden piazza in Florence, the colors of Cinque Terre, the winding streets of Sienna, or the grand monuments of ancient Rome.”

Tough question alert! What was the best part about your vacation?:
“Tough question indeed! For Ann-Marie, it was knowing that everything was planned for us and all we had to do was show up. Michael has been learning Italian for a while and it was a great opportunity for him to finally put that hard work to use (and according to our Italian tour guides, he did a nice job!)”

What made you want to travel with Tenon Tours? What advantages did you have booking with Tenon Tours?:
“Tenon Tours was recommended to us by some friends. We don’t like traveling with large groups on a frenzied schedule and it was great to have a tour customized just for us, based on what we wanted to see and do.”

How was your experience with your Personal Sales Representative(s)?:
“Gracie and Barb were outstanding! They really took the time to get to know us and what we were interested in doing. As a result, we had the trip of a lifetime that was designed just for us.”

What did you like best about your trip and the service Tenon Tours provided?:
“Service by Tenon was A+! I can’t decide what I liked best about the trip. Everything was amazing.”

Do you have any advice to offer up about the weather?:
” We traveled in late March and were fortunate enough to have beautiful weather everyday but one. Wear layers and bring a raincoat.”

What are your favorite souvenirs you brought home?:
“We found a ceramic shop in Florence, Le Mie Ceramiche, which sold hand painted ceramics. The artist was working on some pieces when we entered her shop and we had a lovely conversation with her about her work. We bought three pieces from her, which we will treasure.”

Were there any unplanned parts of your trip that wound up turning into one of your favorite travel stories?:
“During the one rainy day in Rome, we decided to take a cab from the Pantheon to our hotel. You haven’t lived until you’ve ridden a cab through the narrow and winding back streets of Rome at a fairly high rate of speed. Great ride for only 10 Euros! In Florence, while walking down some winding streets from the Boboli Gardens, we came across the workshop and home of Galileo. The workshop was where he discovered the moons of Jupiter.”

Please feel free to add ANY extra experiences, tips, notes, advice or stories you may have:
” Except for our visit to Cinque Terre, all of our tours were with a private driver and guide. Though there were specific things we knew we would see or do on each tour, the guides asked us what other things we were interested in and customized for us along the way, taking us to some places that may not have been planned for the tour. Worth every penny!”

“Our cooking class in Rome was a treat. I’ll never make pasta with my pasta machine again. From now on, only by hand from beginning to end!”

Thank you for choosing Tenon Tours, Michael and Ann-Marie! We’re glad you had a memorable vacation to celebrate 30 years together and wish you many more! We hope to assist you again, when you’re ready to tackle Ireland and Scotland. 🙂🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
