There are many different trip experiences to be had throughout the country of France. From coastlines and countrysides to medieval cities and castles, there is no shortage of unique itineraries that we can create for our travelers. When it comes to exploring France’s wine regions, it is no different. As one of the top wine-producing countries in the world, France has numerous dominant wine regions that offer plenty of vineyards and wineries to explore with your very own private driver.

Out of the endless possibilities, one such wine country trip that we recommend takes you through Paris, Bordeaux and Toulouse. In Bordeaux and other parts of southern France, you’ll find many familiar grapes such as Malbec and Merlot.

To fully experience the southwest wine regions of France, we recommend spending 10 days on your tour. While our trip types vary and can even be combined, we suggest hiring a private driver for the days with wine tours to allow for the enjoyment of the tastings.

PARIS (2-3 DAYS)

No trip to France is complete without spending time in its capital, Paris. We recommend starting and ending your trip here. With a few days to spare, you can plan a few possible day trips to nearby destinations including Disneyland Paris, Versailles, Champagne, Loire Valley and Normandy.

Traditionally, French wine is served with food – so that’s where we’ll start. While in Paris, you can enjoy your very own French cooking lesson! Every aspect of the class will be hands-on so you can ensure you are getting the most authentic experience possible. Spend your free time touring the city streets. Be sure to stop into some of the world’s best museums, restaurants and art galleries.

BORDEAUX (3-4 DAYS)

You’ll depart for Bordeaux via the French train system in Paris. This allows for easy transportation within the country as well as other destinations such as England, Italy, Switzerland and Spain. This can be especially convenient if you plan to do a multi-country tour with us.

Bordeaux is known for its history and culture. Upon arrival in the city, we recommend enjoying a leisurely walking tour to see the most popular sites as well as some hidden gems. End your walking tour with a private wine tasting for the ultimate Bordeaux experience.

While in this popular wine region, you must take a full-day tour to learn the winemaking secrets of Bordeaux. A private tour can be arranged at Bordeaux Vineyards, where you can discover the subterranean cellars before enjoying a wine tasting and luncheon. Other recommended highlights in the area include a day trip to nearby Arcachon and Dune du Pilat.

Tenon Tip: Enjoy a glass of Bordeaux white wine while overlooking the views of the bay and the Atlantic Ocean in Dune du Pilat!

TOULOUSE (1-2 DAYS)

We recommend spending two to three days in Toulouse. Located in southwest France, Toulouse is a large and modern city known for its aerospace industry. Get acquainted with a walking tour of the city and explore its landmarks, architecture and UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Tenon Tip: Plan to visit the Basilica of Saint-Sernin, a church built in the Romanesque style in 1180.

Other highlights of this region include a day trip to Carcassonne Cité Médiévale & Castle. These iconic sites are best explored with a private, local guide while on a walking tour.

After you’ve had your fill of the beautiful city of Toulouse, you can depart for Paris to head home or continue onwards for more French adventures!
