Welcome to Norway! Oslo, the capital of Norway is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city. Located at the top of the beautiful Oslofjord, it is filled with historic sights, wonderful museums, stunning parks, and an abundance of restaurants serving a variety of cuisine. Your guide will introduce you to the city en route to your hotel. 

See the Opera House on the harbor, and City Hall, the location of the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony each December 10. Pass the new Munch Museum, which exclusively houses works by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, the Royal Palace, Parliament, Karl Johansgate pedestrian street, and much more! Overnight in Oslo

After breakfast at your hotel, you have a full day to explore on your own. Oslo has several Christmas markets from mid-November – December. Depending on the schedule, visit Christmas markets today and enjoy the festive atmosphere of the city.

Highlights (optional): Ice skating in the city center, cross-country, or downhill skiing just outside the city.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Depart by train for a breathtaking journey across the mountains. Continue on the famous Flåm railway descending to the village of Flåm on the shore of the Aurlandsfjord. The fjord region is magical during the winter – hauntingly beautiful rivers, stunning mountains, frozen waterfalls, and of course the majestic fjord! You can enjoy your surroundings on a stroll through the valley, relax in front of the fire, or join an active outdoor adventure!

Overnight in Flåm

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then depart on a fjord cruise today that will take you through the Aurlandsfjord to the Nærøyfjord and village of Gudvangen. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery from inside or outside the boat. Continue to Bergen by bus and train, arriving late afternoon.

The harbor city of Bergen is surrounded by nature and is steeped in history, and has so much to offer at any time of year. A smørgåsbord of activities awaits! There are a variety of museums including art galleries, and historical museums, plus many locations of historical significance. One location you should not miss is Bryggen, the Hanseatic wharf, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Follow narrow passageways between the old wooden buildings, which now house quaint shops, offices, and restaurants. Check out the famous fish market, as well!

Bergen’s Christmas market runs from late November to late December. Another holiday highlight is Bergen’s Gingerbread Town! Miniature buildings, trains, cars, and ships are made from real gingerbread by local people of all ages and are on display from mid-November through December.

After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy the beautiful city on foot or take the funicular to the top of Mount Fløien for a nature walk and breathtaking views of the city and fjords below. Visit Troldhaugen, the former home of composer Edvard Grieg, now a museum, or see the aquarium with species found in the waters around the city. Bergen has some wonderful shopping, so don’t leave without souvenirs!
